In the case against Paulo Virgen Mendoza for allegedly shooting and killing Newman Police Department Cpl. Ronil Singh, California Legal Expert and Defense Attorney Allen Sawyer weighs in. Since mental issues were raised in this case, it has been put on hold. Mr. Sawyer asserts that a public mental health evaluation could taint a jury pool.
According to the District Attorney’s office, “This case is too important to risk a change of venue due to extensive media a la the Peterson case.” They were not doing any interviews. The case has been suspended until April.
